FAQs
Questions, answered
The most common heavy haulage questions we receive.
Do you manage NHVR permit applications for OSOM loads?
Yes. Titan Heavy Haulage prepares and lodges all NHVR permit applications with state road authorities and local councils for oversize overmass transport. We handle route planning for constraints and clearances, permit coordination, and council approvals. Permit costs are included in our fixed-price quotes.
What is the maximum load capacity for low loader transport?
Our low loader transport fleet handles loads from 35 to 120 tonnes depending on axle configuration and route restrictions. For loads exceeding 120 tonnes, we arrange specialised multi-axle configurations on a project basis. Contact us with load specifications for a route-specific plan.
Do you provide escort vehicles and traffic management for heavy haulage?
Yes. Where NHVR permits require pilot vehicles or traffic management for oversize overmass transport, we arrange certified escort operators and UTM providers. Police escorts are coordinated for restricted routes. All escort costs are detailed in your quote.
How long does it take to get NHVR permits for oversize transport?
NHVR permit lead times vary by state and route complexity. Standard permits for oversize overmass transport take 5–10 business days. Complex routes requiring constraints and clearance checks or council approvals may take 3–4 weeks. We advise on lead times during the quoting process.
Can you transport machinery to remote sites across Australia?
Yes. Titan has experience with remote site access for heavy haulage including mine sites, civil works, and regional infrastructure projects. We assess site access constraints, road conditions, and fuel availability before quoting. Some remote areas require additional NHVR permits or private road approvals.
Are your heavy haulage vehicles tracked during transport?
Yes. All Titan heavy haulage vehicles are fitted with GPS tracking. Clients receive real-time location updates and estimated delivery times. Our operations team monitors movements and provides progress reports for time-critical freight.
Do you offer after-hours transport for project logistics?
Yes. Some oversize overmass transport movements are restricted to off-peak hours or weekends to minimise traffic disruption. Titan operates 24/7 for project logistics heavy transport, shutdown moves, and time-critical deliveries. After-hours surcharges apply where applicable.
What insurance do you carry for low loader transport of high-value equipment?
Titan Heavy Haulage holds public liability insurance ($20M minimum) and plant/equipment insurance covering replacement value for all heavy haulage movements. Clients receive certificates of currency before transport. Additional insurance can be arranged for specialised or high-value freight on request.
Do you provide engineering or bridge assessment reports?
No. We provide route planning for constraints and clearances, NHVR permit coordination, escort/pilot coordination, and load restraint planning. Engineering or bridge assessment reports must be supplied by the client or a specialist consultant.
